Rosh HaShannah + Yom Kippur at Havurat Shalom

At Havurat Shalom, High Holiday (and all) services are free and open to the public - no tickets! Our services are all led by havurah members, each bringing his or her own flavor to the davening (prayer). At Rosh HaShannah and Yom Kippur in particular, there is a lot of spirited singing to carry our prayers. We hope you'll join us.

Selichot service: Saturday September 8, 10:00 pm

Miso Market building update

I talked to a guy behind the counter tonight, and he said they have 3 years on their lease. The petition is to try to prevent shenanigans. I don't know what good it would do vs. having a good lawyer, but I approve of no landowner shenanigans so signed. He'd be happy -- I don't know his position -- with being paid to void the lease and go elsewhere, the ethical alternative to shenanigans, but thought that had been ruled out already. Building plan is 2-4 stories (he thought) of housing with businesses underneath, just as we all want. But now 3/4 of the site is empty, and will probably remain so for 3 years unless the owners can find some user who doesn't mind leaving in 3 years, thus I guess the fear of possible shenanigans, because the math is odd.

I wonder how much it would cost to get the spaces up to basic housing code. Lots of college students wouldn't mind a 3 year deadline.

2 Bicycles stolen in Teele

I don't have much hope of seeing them again, but figured it was worth posting to remind everyone how easily it can happen. I had 2 bicycles stolen from my garage last night or today. 

I am attaching a picture of them, it isn't the best quality, but is all I could dig up on short notice. (The Cervelo is safe... she is an inside bike and never sleeps far from me)

Bike1 - Red Gary Fisher Sugar Mtn Bike: 

• Stickers are all removed and the fork is blue. 
• The hubs are Chris King and make an unmistakable sound while coasting. I will miss that sound :-(  
• I have an extremely close bond to this bike. It has taken me over the Rockys many times, if I see it while driving down the road, I will abandon my car to chase the thief down.

Bike2 - Blue Novara Hybrid:

• Fairly stock except for the removal of the kickstand
