On New Year's Eve this year, this sweet adult cat followed us home from Norton's Liquors. Ever since then, I've seen her every few weeks. She used to be very friendly and bigger but in recent months, she stopped letting us pet her and is starting to look thinner (could just be because it is summer). She doesn't have a collar so I assume she is stray. I'm starting to get worried about her and considering taking her to Saint Meow's or another local shelter when winter starts but I want to be completely sure she is a stray. Anyone recognize her or have any advice? (Also, not sure if the cat is female or not, but it felt weird to write "it").

A tenant is concerned that they might have bed bugs and has asked if I would have a pest company come in and test for them. Given that should they be found that I will also treat for them, can anyone suggest a reputable company with whom they have had experience with both testing and treatment? I'll check earlier tags but I wanted up to date info.

Also, this is a brand new complaint and not a pre-existing problem. While I have no complaints about paying for pests that come in from outside (mice, ants, etc.) this problem is most likely of the tenant's making, albeit unknowingly. I think that some cost sharing would be appropriate in this situation. What do others think?

Hi Everyone,

It’s time for bike and ped counts – please sign up and help if you can, this data is very important to us.  Information is below.

----------------------

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development, and community partners are looking for volunteers to help with the city’s Fall bike and pedestrian counting project.

The collected data helps to identify pedestrian and bicyclist trends at 36 locations throughout Somerville. This data is incredibly important for project planning, fundraising, and identification future needs.  It only takes one hour of counting at an intersection of your choice.

The one hour of counting needs to take place between 7:15 and 8:45 a.m. or between 4:45 and 6:15 p.m. on one of the following days:

Tuesday, September 18th

Wednesday, September 19th

Thursday, September 20th

Tuesday, September 25th

Wednesday, September 26th

Thursday, September 27th

See the map and sign up here:

Volunteers are able and encouraged to do more than one hour and/or day!

More information on the project, as well as past data collected and presentations on findings can be found on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Counting Program page of the City of Somerville’s website:

I'd love to buy one (probably even two, knowing my roommate). Anyone's child attend that I could purchase from?

Thanks!
