I have a leather bag with a grommet design on the strap: (Picture here).

One of the grommets popped out a couple of years ago and I never got around to getting it fixed. It seems to have a 3/8" diameter on the inside and 1/2" diameter from edge to edge. I brought it last week to Jimmy's Shoe Repair in Central but they told me that they didn't have anything that size.

It also seems like it could/should be something that I could fix myself, but the internet only wants to sell grommets to me in 100+ batches. That's an option, I guess, because if I lost one I probably will lose more.

That does, however, seem like a pretty drastic step if only because I am hopeless at all things DIY. Is there anywhere locally that might be able to fix this?

Thank you!

Anyone tried the restaurant that is taking over the East Asia slot in Powder House?  According to BostonEater, it opened today.

Since our very own moderator didn't seem aware of it, I will mention that there is a regularly stationed food truck vaguely within reach of Davis Square, near Tufts. It parks near the corner of College Ave and Talbot Ave, and is there most days from a bit before lunchtime till after dark. (Actually, there is sometimes another one, a red trolley shaped BBQ or hamburger/hot dog truck, I'm not sure which, on Broadway around Cedar St and Trum Field. I've also seen it parked by Powderhouse Park, but I think that was a while ago.)

Anyway...Greek Festival Truck report. below is edited a bit because I was unfairly emphasising my whines about getting a food truck practically out my door that was not "foodie" cuisine and not a "Greek Festival" though it taunted me with the name: overall, it's quality, fast, sandwiches, and practically out the door from my house, so I can't complain!

But in the wake of the annual Somerville Greek Festival (you just missed it last weekend) and with a name of "Greek Festival" - I had some disappointment when they first parked down the street. (And it's certainly not a foodie fantasy sort of food truck like the ones you might hear of in Boston or NY or San Francisco, either.) No lovingly made moussaka, spinach pie, grape leaves, finikia and other pastries - not even much of a match for the Greek Corner restaurant in North Cambridge which lacks the church-lady love.

They offer mostly various grilled meat things in a pita, served with fries and a Coke if you want. Those pita sandwiches are perfectly good, and if you're really psyched about getting food from a truck, there you go - but it's just not a Greek Festival, darnit. Also, [livejournal.com profile] ron_newman, They do generally have baklava for dessert, and that's pretty good too.

Earlier this summer I was excited when I figured out that in addition to the wraps, they often had falafel. But then one time they had no falafel after I expected them to, and a third time the falafel was hard and crunchy and lame. Amsterdam Falafel Shop's is much better, so I've moved on, at least when it comes to falafel.

I also took advantage of them once when I was making burgers at home and thought they'd be better with some fries - since I'm not a frozen-Ore-Ida-package kind of person, so I picked up a large side or two of fries on my way home. Another reason it's handy to have a sandwiches-and-fries truck down the street!
