Good afternoon all: wanted to reach out on behalf of the Friends of the Somerville Public Library who will have their Fall booksale October 26-28th. The set up of the event (week before) and keeping the event itself organized takes many hands, but is generally light work... If you like books and are interested in assisting please do contact via the Friends' email address: FriendsSomervillePublicLibrary@gmail.com and I can coordinate scheduling.

Upcoming events: As well as organizing a design talk w/ local fashion illustrator/stylist Christine "N'East Style" Mitchell on Sept 29, further info, and appearing at Tufts Community Day on Sept 30th (which is fantastic btw, highly recommend), the Friends of the SPL have a Benefit Night at Flatbread/Sacco on October 9th with a small curated book sale for children and adults, and a wicked raffle featuring a 2013 Burton Snowboard, $100 in LLBean gift certificates, and additionally gift certificates from The Somerville Theatre, Posto, Painted Burro, Picture Renewal, Flatbread, Somerville Grooves, Porter Square Books, Redbones... and more. Should be knockout. As usual for these nights, Flatbread will kindly donate money for each pizza bought on the night (eat in or take out), but you are also free to pop in and grab some raffle tickets during the evening. Further info. #burtonboard #datenightdinner

Long post... thx.

Is it the last gasp of summer or the first big street party of the fall?  Who cares? It's free, it's fun and it's a great way to get a foretaste of Assembly Row and a preview of  the soon-to-be-transformed Mystic riverfront.

Riverfest has always been an engaging, family-friendly event, but this year's version has expanded its hours and broadened its appeal. The celebration starts midday on Saturday, September 15th (rain day is Sunday) and culminates at 8 p.m. with some serious fireworks over the river. Details here.

I need a few 2" and 4" diameter poster tubes for a project.* Buying a whole case would be overkill, but that seems to be the only option online. Can anyone point me to a local joint that sells them by ones and twos? 2" seems to be a standard tube diameter, but I'm less confident of finding the big ones.

* Said project is constructing a life-size IG-88 for Empire Strikes Back Uncut.
