I've lived in Davis for 3 years but was an out of stater before that. My husband and I are expecting our first baby in May and we are both in our late 20s. We are the first of our friends to have kids, so I am interested in any local pregnancy/parenting groups I might look into joining. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you :)

Everyone in Somerville has scheduled open studios and craft fairs for this coming Saturday and Sunday, December 1-2. It's like a mini-Somerville Open Studios, with events at Artisan's Asylum, Washington Street Art Center, Vernon Street Studios, Miller Street Studios, the Armory, Mudflat, various places in Union Square, and more.

Mimi Graney of Union Square Main Streets has compiled this comprehensive list of all December 1-2 art and craft events in Somerville.

We're not officially open yet (we are shooting to start classes right before Christmas!) , but we'd love to meet our neighbors and possible future clients! There will be some demonstrations, door prizes, and a few things to nibble on. Stop by while you're out for all the wonderful art and craft sales this weekend! The Open House is from 2pm to 6pm this Sunday, December 2nd.

Somehow I missed the news that Spike's Junkyard Dogs closed their Davis Square location a week ago. [Edit: Or not; my eyes need to be checked. It's this Friday that they're closing.]

I remember reading that Painted Burro was going to be expanding into that space, but didn't realize they were closing so soon...
