Tomorrow is the special primary election for the U.S. Senate seat recently vacated by (now Secretary of State) John Kerry. Democrats and Republicans will each choose a nominee for the final election, which will take place June 25.

If you are registered in a political party, you must take your party's ballot. If you are "unenrolled" (independent), you may choose which party ballot to take.

Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm. Find your polling place at WhereDoIVoteMA.com.

Feel free to use this post for any and all discussion of tomorrow's election.

The Big Thrifty is an annual one-day bargain-hunting all-gender fat clothing event happening at Unity Somerville, 6 William St. (edging College Ave.), Davis Square, Somerville, MA, 12pm-5pm, Saturday, May 4th, 2013! All items $.50-$10.00! XL and up! $5 at the door; cash only!

Volunteers are still needed (free admission), so if you'd like to offer an hour to help make the event run more smoothly, email thebigthrifty@gmail.com to sign up!

And clothing donations are still very much needed and being accepted. Arlington/Cambridge/Medford/Somerville pick ups are still being scheduled for this week, and the Somerville drop off point is still happening. Email thebigthrifty@gmail.com to schedule a pick up or drop off! And, YES, while advance donations are best (for pre-sorting), you can definitely bring bagged clothing donations to the event. There'll be volunteers ready to take those from you and get them out on the tables.

Last year, this event was able to donate $4,000+ to charity. This year's beneficiary will be IMPACT Boston, a great organization.

Hi LJ friends,

May is National Bike Month, and I’m inviting you to travel just up the bike path to the 4th Annual Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival on May 20th at the Regent Theatre in Arlington. It’s a benefit for Massbike.

It is the only film festival in the USA that will make you want to drop everything and ride off into the sunset (or at least head away for a weekend). This year, our Grand Jury Prize winner is a fascinating story of a 23-year old Boston mother of three who cycled the globe in just 15 months – in 1894!

In addition to this seriously “old-school” tour, we’ll see more recent explorations with destinations from Iran to Scotland to…Swampscott!

We are also the only film festival to feature a Cookie Showcase of the area’s best bakeries - which is what happens when event planners have a sweet tooth.

One lucky attendee will win an amazing door prize – a spot on one of Ciclismo Classico’s “More Miles for Less” tours – a $2600 value! We’ll also be raffling off an eclectic collection of cool bike jerseys to outfit you for your next ride. Hope to see you there!

Details:

At the corner of Elmwood and Tannery Brook, by the telephone pole with the stop sign.  Sturdy, black finish, might be nice for a bathroom.  VERY rough estimate of size 1 ft x 2 1/2 ft x 4 1/2 ft.
