Kicking off Somerville Open Studios this year is our second annual Independent Designers' Fashion Show: Beyond the Pattern, featuring Somerville clothing, jewelry, and handbag designers who are participants in Somerville Open Studios 2013. Not only will their work be featured at the fashion show, but their art will also be on display/sale at their various studios around Somerville May 4 & 5th (THIS WEEKEND!).
Come experience local art in another format-- as a runway show!
Beyond The Pattern
Wed, May 1, 7:00pm, doors open at 6pm (THIS WEDNESDAY, holy moly, it's May this week!)
Center for Arts at the Armory
191 Highland Ave. Somerville, MA.
Admission is free.
Seating is on a first come first serve basis and subject to capacity. Please arrive early for best seating.
The Armory bar will be open, featuring local craft brews and soft drinks for your sipping pleasure. Some parking is available behind the Armory, as well as street parking being available.
On view will be an exploration of gendered play through gendered wear, Asian inspired clothing with simplistic elegance, vintage inspired retro glamor, custom clothing and jewelry that intersects science, art, and technology, sustainably made by local artists.
For our Young Designers' Challenge this year, we are featuring a group of Somerville Public High School students modeling their very own fashion creations they designed and made in class under their teachers' guidance.
Participating Artists:
Joolie Cahill - Coordinator for Beyond the Pattern
JoAnne Coppolo - Assistant Coordinator for Beyond the Pattern
