Fireworks last night, 10 - 10:30 pm?

I was bicycling across Somerville last night, east to west, between 10 and 10:30 pm, and heard lots of faraway loud booms that sounded like fireworks. I didn't see any fireworks. Anyone know what this was?

Revere Beach had fireworks scheduled last night, but those were supposed to be at 9 pm.

Meeting Set to Discuss Cedar Street Upgrade

Mayor Curtatone and I invite all interested residents to a public meeting to discuss flood-related issues and proposed mitigation in the Cedar and Hall Street neighborhood. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 31st at 6pm at Lowell Street VNA.

Proposed work in this area will include water, wastewater and stormwater system upgrades. Upgrades to roadway, sidewalk, and bike accommodations will also be completed as part of this project Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2014. Additional public meetings will be held throughout the design process.

Carpool to Malden?

I recently got a new job in Malden (yay!), which takes over an hour to get to on the T (boo!). Looking into getting a bike, but I was also hoping to explore some kind of carpool/ride share option, and I have no idea where to even start looking for that. Any thoughts? Do any of the big ride share companies have enough of a local member base to make them worthwhile? Anyone have good or bad experiences?
