This moving saga is getting.. complicated. The part of most immediate concern is that I can't take my cat with me when I move (badly allergic person at destination), and both my primary and backup plans for finding her a new home have failed. And so I'm offering her to you:

Shelby is a spayed female tortoiseshell... )

I'm looking for someone who's willing to adopt her, or perhaps board her for 4-6mo while DH and I sort out independent housing at our destination. We can supply all of her care items, as well as our current stock of food & litter. We'll be renting a van for move-related errands and can deliver if needed.

If you'd like to arrange to meet her, send me a PM and we'll work something out.

Hi all, I've got some books I'm decluttering--just too many of them taking up space in my house. I'd prefer to give them away rather than try to sell them. I've got some in each of the following categories:

--writing and reference

--science fiction and fantasy

--mainstream fiction

--pagan

--nonfiction (mostly history and psychology)

I don't want to clutter up this post with all the titles. If interested, please comment with what category or categories you're interested in and I will PM you with the list(s). Thanks!

Last night around 7 pm, someone falsely claiming to be from RCN tried to get into my across-the-hall neighbor's apartment. He said something about a problem in her apartment that was affecting service to the rest of the building. She did NOT let him in, and instead called both RCN and the building manager. RCN confirmed that they don't make visits like this after 5 pm.

So, be careful out there.

The Green Line Extension Project Working Group will meet to hear from the State:

Friday, Feb 5, 10am-12pm
The Center for Arts at the Armory
191 Highland Ave.

This meeting will be open to public comments. Please come show support for the Green Line Extension -- make sure your voice is heard as we fight for a Green Line Extension to serve our community.

You will also hear:
- Where things stand right now, including next steps and timelines

- Preliminary redesign concepts - an early peek at some of the
options they're exploring to bring down costs

- Project budget overview

Two proposals are of particular concern:

1. Eliminating the Union Square station. The substitutes considered -- shuttle buses, a commuter rail stop, single track light rail shuttle to Lechmere -- provide much less desirable service and could hamstring the planned development of Union Square / Boynton Yards. These alternatives had previously been evaluated and rejected during earlier planning.

2. Relocating the Community Path. Portions may be forced onto roadways shared with cars and trucks, and it is not clear how the Path could cross the Fitchburg Line near Brickbottom.
