Hello dslj. Just bought a gas grill for the summer. I'm wondering where are the closest propane filling stations to the square? Preferably within walking distance. Preferably a location where I can also buy a tank. Couldn't find any previous posts on the subject. Thanks!

It's not easy. If I am not mistaken, there are zoning laws on where a propane tank can and cannot be filled, and where propane can and cannot be sold.

The local Home Depot's do not fill propane. The Home Depot in Assembly Sq., for example, does not even sell (filled) propane tanks due to zoning, but the Home Depot near Wellington Cir. does.

Your best bet is to check with the UHauls. I know the UHaul of Somerville/Medford at 600 Mystic Valley Parkway does sell and fill propane tanks.

thanks mattt. this explains why no gas stations in the area have propane.

according to bluerhino's website, the walgreens in arlington on mass ave also has a filling station. Looks to be maybe slightly closer than the uhaul location.

Last summer I tried to buy a refill at Home Depot in Somerville and they told me you cant buy propane in Somerville due to zoning or law I forget.
