Pemberton Market (the one that sells liquor) is also out of gallon jugs. They still have plenty of smaller bottles, so I bought two liters of Poland Spring fizzy water.

There's absolutely NO NEED to buy bottles water if you have a STOVE and a POT.

Boil water for one minute. Approximately 60 times less time than it will take you to find a place that has bottled water. Plus, basically free and very low environmental impact. (Especially as compared to buying bottles of water!!!!!)

Seriously, people: Boil water; you don't have to be a culinary genius to pull this one off.

True, but I find the fizzy stuff refreshing on a hot day, so eventually I'm going to use it one way or another.

My father firmly insisted that the environmental impact of boiling water (energy use) is much higher than buying gallons of water. (Not individual unit bottles but large quantities.) He is one of the loudest opponents I know of the bottled water scam, so I'm inclined to listen to him...but we weren't able to get any jugs! So I just dumped our boiled water into our Brita pitchers and refrigerated. Sigh.
