Hey, everybody. I'm trying to make some decisions about moving in July, before my current lease is up. If I were to do that, I'd need to get someone to take over the last few months of my lease, with an option to renew.

The problem is, having never been involved with the rental market in the summer around here, I have no idea how likely or unlikely it is to be able to do that. I live in Union Square in a two-bedroom. Is there usually more demand for a place like that in the summer than supply, or the other way around?

Any information would be appreciated, statistical or anecdotal!

Summer sublets are a lively market. Offering it for the three months of June-August is your best bet, since a lot of people are in Cambridge for the summer. Starting the sublet in July sounds more iffy, since that cuts out most of the summer folks.

Your location, I think, works neither for nor against you.

Good luck!

My boyfriend and I are interested in summer sublets in Union with an option to renew in September. Mid-July would be preferable to July 1st, but we're pretty flexible. E-mail me at ciarme at gmail dot com if you'd like to talk about it further.
