Hi everyone,
I'm planning to bring a few bags of my unwanted clothes to a consignment shop some time soon, and was wondering if anyone has had experiences at both Buffalo Exchange in Davis and Poor Little Rich Girl (soon to be in Union) and if so, which shop seemed to give you a better deal for your clothes.
It seems like Buffalo Exchange prices your clothes and then will give you either 50% of the total as an in-store gift card, or 30% of the total in cash. PLRG's website makes it sound like they're quite picky about what they'll buy back, but they don't mention a policy in terms of prices.
Thanks a bunch,
R

Date: 2010-05-27 01:39 pm (UTC)The main difference is how fast you get paid. At Buffalo Exchange you will get cash in hand. At PLRG, if you want cash, you have to wait three months. Your stuff will be in the store for 60 days, then it takes a month or so to do the check run.
Meanwhile, however, you can use your credit at PLRG anytime and that gets you a 20% discount on whatever you buy. So I'd say it depends on where you're more likely to shop and how fast you need cashola.
consignment vs re-sale

For me, the better deal is with PLRG. I don't mind the wait, I've consigned w/ them for years, and I like their inventory better than the BE. But that's just me :-)

Hitting the $50 mark is fairly easy, it only really takes a handful of things...
If making money is the goal then consignment is best, but, if getting paid fast is the issue, I would recommend going to the Garment District as well. Keep it local :)
Take care,
