In some of the threads that have arisen in response to the awesome crime maps provided by [livejournal.com profile] pythonpowered, one question that sometimes get asked is, "Why hasn't some other larger or more official agency already done this?" Today I discovered that bpdnews.com actually links to the site

http://www.crimereports.com/

Basically you can plug in a place and time period and get a map of where crimes have been reported. I haven't compared these maps to those provided by [livejournal.com profile] pythonpowered, so I wouldn't call them a replacement, but I did think the community might want to know about this other resource tool.

I used that site but they don't have anything for Somerville. If you sign up for the daily crime update, you get crimes committed in Boston and Cambridge.

Ah, so it's their fault the crime rate is going up there...

Wow, That is awesome.

Just type in your ZIP code and voila. You can also see where registered sex offenders are. Guess where? In the same areas where crime is high. Life is very unfair.
