Just when you thought it was safe to move your car...

The City of Somerville will declare a snow emergency Wednesday, January 26 at 7a.m. School has also been cancelled for Wednesday. In accordance with the City's policy, parking restrictions will be enforced four hours after the emergency has been declared (11a.m.) However, residents are encouraged to move their cars immediately to avoid any confusion. Visit the City of Somerville Website for further details.

I hate to ask this here, but how do you know if Waltham is doing the same thing or not?

Boston.com is only predicting 2-4 inches, which normally wouldn't generate a snow emergency. I guess that they feel that they're already pretty behind in cleaning up many side streets around town...

I think it's 2-4 inches tonight, and then another inch or so tomorrow
(per http://www.weather.unisys.com/forecast.cgi?KBOS), so I guess that puts it over Somerville's requirement to declare a snow emergency.

... to move their cars immediately to avoid any confusion

as if they had actually plowed the "even" side of the road and not just one lane down the middle :)

Thought that was just on our street...I don't think we've seen a plow come through since Sunday morning.

i was thinking the same thing.... like anyone on my street even CAN park on the other side. isn't the whole point of calling a snow emergency so the plows can plow up the side of the street and not just down the middle?

Same deal here on my street as well. And pissed me off, some motherfucker moved the trashcan marking my spot and parked there. Fortunately, with the snow emergency and no school tomorrow, I was able to park in a school lot. Otherwise, I would have had to park in someone else's spot, and with my damn luck they would slash my tires.
