Posting for my awesome housemate ...

The parking lot at Herbert Street and Day Street is empty every Wednesday evening, when parking is still restricted after the farmers market is gone. We hate to see all that prime real estate going to waste, so we're calling for Davis Square Recess! And the first one is TOMORROW. We'll have some supplies, but bring your own chalk, jumprope, hula hoop, foursquare ball, wiffle bat, frisbee, etc ...

When: Tomorrow, Wednesday July 14 @ 7:00PM

What: Drawing with chalk, jumprope contests, foursquare games, hopscotch ...

Who: All ages

By the time I got to Davis Square at 9:30, nobody was there anymore and some cars were parked in the spaces. How did this event go, and will it be repeated?

I got there at something like eight. I think I was the only one to show who wasn't one of the organizers. They figured the low numbers were due to rain but it may happen again some time.

It was entertaining, and I learned that I am terrible at Four-Square.

Thanks for all the interest! As londo says, we were a little rained out, but we had a rockin' time playing foursquare and drawing with chalk. We closed up shop a little after 8pm, which seems to be when the cars figure out they can park there.

We're planning to give it another try a week from Wednesday (the 28th).

(We're taking this Wednesday off to go to the Sprout spaghetti dinner (http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/2298069.html) ... but our not being there certainly doesn't preclude anyone else from showing up with jump ropes and hula hoops.)
