Volunteers needed for breast cancer study

A researcher at Tufts is looking for women in particular age groups to compare their breast tissue in order to try and figure out why giving birth and breastfeeding lower the risk of breast cancer. They need both women who have given birth and those who have not.

Here are the categories they're looking for:

You are between 20-25 years of age and have NEVER been pregnant

OR

You are 30 years old or younger AND have one child AND gave birth 5-6 years ago (between 2005-2006)

OR

You are 30 years old or younger and have NEVER been pregnant

OR

You are 50 years old or older AND premenopausal AND have NEVER been pregnant

OR

You are 50 years old or older AND premenopausal AND your last pregnancy was at least 16 years ago (before 1995)

Further requirements:

• You have never been diagnosed with breast (including DCIS), uterine, ovarian, or thyroid cancer

• You have not smoked in the past 5 years

• You have NEVER had breast implants

• You are NOT taking hormonal contraceptives

• You are NOT currently pregnant or breast-feeding

• You live near Boston, MA (or are willing to travel there at your own expense)

Just to clarify, the lead researcher is not a personal friend -- I heard about this from Army of Women, and thought I'd pass it along to boost the signal.

Sorry, I don't know anything more about the study than what is given in the link in the post. I heard about it from an Army of Women email and thought I'd pass it along here.
