fireworks + sirens?

Tufts is doing fireworks tonight. (Right Now, even.) But near the campus I also hear quite a chorus of emergency sirens just now - did something unexpected happen with the fireworks, or just coincidence?

Ah, so that's where I was hearing fireworks from. Bet the sirens were from people calling 911 and reporting gunfire. :-)

Well, there was a flurry of sirens, and now there's more that sound more like firetrucks and ambulances rather than squad cars.

And thank you, I was seriously wondering wtf was going on. :D

Yeah, I came here because I figured davis_square might be able to tell me where they were from! I watched them (as best I could) from my deck, standing on a chair. :)

Last night, my husband asked me where the fireworks were coming from, and I told him it was at Tufts, and if he read the Davis Sq Livejournal community, he would have known :-)

The fireworks were announced here several days ago, but I don't know anything about the sirens.

I walked up there to see the fireworks, and two firetrucks did come, but I think they might have been precautionary. The wind was blowing everything towards/over the buildings, rather than into the quad, so they might have had them there for safety. Didn't see anything on fire, and they never unrolled the hoses.

I was in line outside the Somerville Theatre, and there were several bright flashes and loud bangs from down Holland St. (past the T stop) -- right in the middle of the street. The emergency vehicles came a few minutes later. A firework that had gone awry? Maybe -- seems like a great distance from Tufts.

Nah, nothing went bad with the fireworks. They were great, as always.
