It's the giant brick building next to the Cedar Street Bike Path on Willow. It's shuttered and presumably unused, but I can't find any record of current property ownership online.

Presumably NSTAR? Is Edison Electric still around? Would love help tracking down details.

I think it's RCN's (or maybe Comcast's) local POP.

This building is very much used. It's the local point-of-presence for RCN. There are often Verizon trucks there too, so they must have equipment there as well.

NSTAR has stuff there too; given the number of transformers next to the building I wouldn't be surprised if it's the local power substation.

The signs on the fence still say 'Boston Edison', which makes me think the property is owned by NSTAR.

I wonder why Verizon would be there, since they have their own facility on Central Street at Willoughby.

Boston Edison is still listed as the owner of record in the city assessor's online database, which should be pretty up to date, so NStar sounds right.

NSTAR owns the property and uses the substation in the back. They rent the large brick building to RCN. I walk by this site almost every day and daydream about turning it into a park. It's so ugly.

There's got to be some way to landscape this property and still maintain the necessary truck access to the NStar and RCN facilities.
