Film Shoot at Somerville Theatre on 6/14
Jun. 10th, 2011 04:29 pmThe movie "TED" will be filming in Davis Sq. on Tuesday, 6/14 at the Somerville Theatre exterior. This is a Mark Wahlberg/Mila Kunis project that's been shooting around the area lately. The city sent out notices to local businesses with the logistics info below the cut.
Dear Residents and Businesses,
My name is Ryan Cook and I am currently an Assistant Location Manager for the upcoming film “TED” shooting in Davis Square next Tuesday June 14th. Our filming centers around the exterior of the Somerville Theater where we'll be staging a film premiere. We'll be prepping the area with generators and cables starting at 8 am Tuesday morning and will begin our filming around 7 pm, with our activities lasting until about 1 am.
Due to the nature of our shoot we will be closing down Holland Street between Winter Street and Dover Street after 6 pm. Dover Street, Meacham Road, and the Day Street parking lot will be closed starting at 8 am to stage our work vehicles. We will return Wednesday morning to wrap out all of the cables and excess equipment but will only be utilizing Dover Street and Meacham Road. The Day Street lot and Holland Street will return to normal very early that morning.
We'll of course have police details on site at all time in order to help alleviate traffic issues or any other problems that may arise. We understand that we are guests in your neighborhood and will conduct ourselves accordingly. We sincerely appreciate the warm welcome we've received so far and hope to make this an enjoyable experience for all! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have!
Sincerely,
Ryan Cook
The city said in their note that they will relax all non-emergency parking restrictions (meter violations, resident permits) in all areas "immediately abutting the affected area."

Date: 2011-06-13 12:36 am (UTC)Hello, this is Jackie Rossetti from the City of Somerville with important information about traffic and parking restrictions in Davis Square for a special event on Tuesday, June 14th.
Due to an event at the Somerville Theatre, please note that, effective 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Dover Street and Meacham Road will be closed to vehicle traffic, and parking restrictions will be in place. Beginning at approximately 7pm, no vehicle traffic will be permitted on Holland Street between Davis Square and Buena Vista Road, and westbound traffic on Highland Ave. will be detoured onto Elm Street and College Ave. until approximately 1am on Wednesday morning. Parking restrictions will also apply on portions of Day, Dover, and Holland Streets, and the Day Street parking lot will be closed beginning at 8am on Tuesday. Pedestrian access will be maintained in these areas, and Somerville Police personnel will be on hand for public safety, and to assist with traffic detours. MBTA buses will be rerouted, and signs will be posted accordingly in affected areas between the hours of 6pm and midnight.
To alleviate parking concerns, the City will ease enforcement of metered and residential permit parking as necessary in affected areas, however the City does not recommend car travel through Davis Square center between 6 p.m. and midnight. Businesses will remain open at their discretion and police details will assist in maintaining access for customers.
If you have questions or concerns during this time on Tuesday, please contact Ryan Cook at 617-763-7758, or sixstar.cook@gmail.com. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance during this event.
