Movers - let me recommend

I am standing in my new kitchen eating tortilla chips, with boxes all around me, thanks to Precision Moving who were completely awesome. They arrived when they said they would. They took about as long as estimated, they were efficient, and didn't bitch a lot when getting the damned futon into the new place required partial disassembly.

And they moved my stuff! Boxes and boxes, damned-heavy boxes, furniture, stray shelves, and it all ended up where it was labeled to go.

If you're going to hire professional movers, I highly recommend Precision Moving.

I second this. My husband and I used them when we moved to our new Somerville house from our Somerville apartment, and it was a very good experience.

I had a horrible experience with Precision Moving and would not recommend to anyone. I am pretty sure one of the guys was drunk when they did my job.

Would highly recommend Stairhopper though. Great service, friendly, timely, efficient.

I actually hired them based on this community's recommendation, and they were awesome! I happened to be moving on the hottest day of the year, but they were wonderful, very efficient, and so nice.

I also love Precision Movers for all the reasons stated! On time, fast, professional and their estimate was exactly right. I've recommended them to several other people and they all had great experiences too.

Love them as well. My then girlfriend (now fiance) and I both used them on our last moves two years ago. Now she's moving into my place next month, using them again. Great work, disassembled my bed and recliners last time, took a lot of effort, and did a great job.

Smallish move -- into a 3-room apartment from a 6-room apartment, but I did a lot of weeding beforehand so it really was just 3-rooms worth of stuff, plus a few boxes that would go into storage space. Took a little over 4 hours, bill (including a few boxes I'd purchased from them) was about $600--that was mostly for the move as for many things I used boxes I had and a bunch of file boxes I bought at Staples.

I had one great experience with them, and then one awful one just recently, so I suspect they just don't do a 100% job of weeding out bad workers. But it is certainly the case that the positive reviews outnumber the negative ones everywhere I've looked.

This leaves me perplexed at my bad experience, but oh well.
