I have some unwanted house guests living in my chimney. Not sure what they are but they have to go.

Any recommendations on local pest control companies who are good with removals like this?

Perhaps a bit risky without a fireplace, although if I burn the house down I imagine that they will leave.

Wait... if you don't have a fireplace, why do you want the critters out of the chimney? Are you concerned something will die in there and smell bad?

The chimney vents the emissions from the water heaters and the boilers, which contain carbon monoxide. So if the chimney were to become blocked, say by some kind of a nest or maybe a dead critter, then we could all get carbon monoxide poisoning.

And yeah, I also don't want it to smell bad.

Haha...I actually tried that once. I had heard squirrels running amok in the top of my chimney and I thought if I lit a fire that they would scamper out onto the roof. I lit the fire and what jumped into my fireplace was not a squirrel, but an angry screeching wing flapping duck. It hopped over the gate and made a squacking beeline for me.....Jesus, I couldn't sleep for weeks.

The owners of Best Pest Control (the "ant house" on Elm Street, closer to Porter) were my old landlords. I'm not sure about chimney pest removal in particular, but they were wonderful in general. Worth a call!
