Fireworks?

Anyone know why fireworks are being shot off right now, seemingly about four blocks west of where I live (Day and Orchard streets)?

The sound set me a bit on edge, since I spent part of the afternoon hearing gunshots every few minutes while bicycling through Harold Parker State Forest in North Reading.

I heard them too, but they sounded more like firecrackers than fireworks. I'm choosing to assume it was teenagers. :)

I live on the third floor, with west-facing windows, so I could see the fireworks in the sky at the same time as the loud bang noises.

Ahhh, well, then they were fireworks. Arlington, or further?

I think closer, like Meacham Road or Kingston Street, but who knows. If the fireworks had continued I might have considered calling the cops.

What happened in Reading? That sounds scary!

There's a gun club across the road from the state forest I was biking in. I hope the gunshots were coming from there and not from hunters inside the forest (where it is hunting season for some animals).

When we were camping in Harold Parker there was an area being used by some Revolutionary War reenactors right near our tents, to fire cannons and muskets. Some tent naps were a bit more unsuccessful as a result.

I live at the end of Highland Road near Lexington Park, and we've had issues for the past 3-4 months with kids setting off fireworks in the dead end of the street/near the intersection of Morrison & Highland. These aren't just little bitty fireworks, either--based on what I've seen left over, these are the kind that come several to a box (where, presumably, they're designed so that the entire box is set alight; obviously, I don't have any personal experience shooting off fireworks). There have been times where it's been bad enough that I've seriously contemplated calling 911, but the kids in question would be long gone by the time the cops showed (if they showed up at all); that may sound extreme, but I and my nervous elderly cat could do without rockets whizzing by the front door...

There's a very loud party over near us, near Teele square. I heard what sounded like fireworks, too, very nearby.
