Can anybody out there recommend a good realtor for the somerville/medford area (also malden, belmont, watertown, cambridge, arlington, etc)?

I'm looking for a 1 bedroom apartment starting preferably around July, but as early as June or as late as August.

(I'm not looking for a roommate situation)

Thanks in advance!

I live in Medford in a truly lovely one bedroom in a building. I got my apartment through Greater Metropolitan Real Estate on Boston Ave. I don't know if they're good or bad per se, but they showed me some nice apartments and were friendly. They were a little pushy, but I think as long as you're willing to be aggressive with them, you should be fine.

Good luck! I adore living alone :)

We used Janet Halloran w/ReMax in Lexington to find our house, and recomend her tremendously. Don't know if she does apartments tho.

I used Jay Gardner with Chestnut Hill Realty. The office is between Harvard and Porter Square; he's great.

gigi from metro realty was a lifesaver for me... she left that office, but the firm as a whole is fantastic. they have "ins" with places like you wouldn't believe. i loved an apartment i saw in my building, but someone snagged it first... they used their pull with the building's management company, and found out that there was another apartment opening in 2 months... and convinced them to let me see it before it was even listed. i got the apartment, and it's MUCH, MUCH bigger and only $100/month more! i love those guys.

Are you looking to rent or buy? A lot of times there isn't cross-over between what a realtor will focus on. I have several recs for non-rental.

We rented a place on Lowell Street in Somerville from Perry Stolberg of PDS Associates. He owns a bunch of property, the rent was reasonable, he didn't charge a fee, and he took care of the property (he even had someone come and shovel us out when it snowed!). We rented from him 2002, so I don't know what he's got now, but it can't hurt to call! 617 783 4255.

i would also stay away from sander realty (i see them on craigslist a lot). don't even call them. you will fear for your life riding in a car with their realtor. and she tends to stretch the truth a little more than necessary.
