I know someone asked this a few months ago but I can't find the post. So:

Who do you trust in this area to alter a bridesmaid gown?

The bridal shop costs a lot (!) and I have to believe there's some awesome tailor/seamstress tucked away who charges less.

Thanks!

In Arlington Center: Jannette and her number is 781-646-8410.

She is beyond amazing, beyond accomadating, beyond nice. Her work was lovely and her prices reasonable.

hiya - I'm the one who asked the question a while back. I went to see Janette, and I can definitely say that she knows what she's doing! I didn't go with her because she mostly does alterations and makes accessories rather than making a whole dress, and I was looking for someone to sew a wedding dress for me. When I went to see her she was working on a lace shrug to go with a client's strapless wedding dress - it was gorgeous. She is a bit hard to understand (in person as well), but very nice . . . and she gave me the lowest estimate (by a lot) out of all of the potential seamstresses I visited.

Theres a little shop right next to the Diesel on Elm St. in Davis Sq. I think it's called Eleni of NY or something. I've had stuff altered there before, mostly having pants hemmed, but she altered a suit jacket for me once and I thought the prices were reasonable and she did a good job.
