Baked goods!

Am I missing something, or is there no good bakery anywhere in Davis, Porter, Harvard, or Central? I don't mean a coffee shop that has good scones; there are tons of those. I mean a place with a big display case full of cookies, rugelach, and other pastries where I can buy a mixed box. The only one I know of is La Contessa in Davis, and (sorry but...) I don't think it's very good. I want chocolate and jam and flaky buttery pastry and I don't want to have to go to Brookline or the North End to get it, darn it! Help?

I have heard, but have never had the courage to try, that if the door is open you can get fresh donuts and muffins from them very cheap.
