Mighty DSLJ --

Is there any co-working office space available in the Davis Square area? Or is there anyone who'd be willing to sublet me a desk and a wifi connection?

I am investigating Sprout (thesprouts.org): from their website it sounds like they offer shared desk space, but nothing dedicated where you could leave things set up even when you're not there.

There is also the Coworking Boston wiki (http://wiki.coworking.info/w/page/16583432/CoworkingBoston), but doesn't list anything in West Somerville or North Cambridge at all.

For the record, it *does* list:

Industry Lab (Inman Sq)
Cambridge Coworking Center (Kendall Sq)
GeekOffices (Inman Sq)
Design Annex (Union Sq)

Is that it for Camberville?

I don't think I can actually describe Sprout, but from what I've seen it's definitely not office space. More of a maker/hacker space, but not quite that either.

Maybe there is more to it than the rooms I've been in, though...

Sprout is much more like a tiny version of Artisan's Asylum than it is a 'shared office space'. It is a two-story converted garage, with a fair amount of metal-working equipment on the first floor.

If you've got a few months to wait on a list, Artisan's Asylum might work for you, if you're willing to share a cubicle with a more active maker type of person.

There is also the Cambridge Innovation Center in Kendall. WorkBar Boston will be opening a Central Square location soon -- but that probably means September. I haven't found anything much closer. It's worth contacting Sprout; I know one Internet company that's in their space, although I haven't been there so I don't know if that means they're just in the same building. I also did once rent a desk from an Internet company in No. Cambridge but that was several years ago; if you're interested in contacting them let me know I'll shoot their contact info to you.

Yeah, that's right. I didn't want to name them since I don't they think don't list their address on their website, but that's what I've heard as well.

North Cambridge (Sherman St.) has the Brickyard Office Space: http://www.brickyardcollaborationspace.com/history-of-the-space.html

(Not quite Davis, but not terribly far away.)

Hello Mighty DSLJ --!!

I represent a pretty cool co-working space in Cambridge, (even if I do say so myself!) The Brickyard Collaboration Space, (86 Sherman Street) for start-ups and small independent companies. (Bill Warner, currently an active Angel Investor in Cambridge, most noteworthy as founder of Avid Technology and several other startups, established our space, 10+ years ago.)

We are located almost equi-distant between, Porter Sq, Alewife Station and Davis Sq. Our space is comprised of a variety of offices and work space styles - from open desk areas, to some cubicles as well as closed offices of various sizes and types. Our building is a renovated turn of the century pottery factory, with exposed brick walls, 10ft high windows, high ceilings, skylights, and other features.

Our current population of businesses spans across several industries, (on line news magazine, a non-profit serving teenagers, social media marketing company. real estate agent, but is primarily hi-tech.) We are a collaboration space that serves as a bridge between, artistic/creative businesses and hi-tech! Lots of interesting people from various backgrounds.

We currently have some office spaces and desks available.
