Looking for a good eye doctor around Davis so I can get a current prescription for my contact-lensed eyes. Last year I went to Eye Q Optical in Harvard Square, and although they were super nice, they specialize in glasses and kept trying to sell me a pair. Also, the doctor I saw pushed a new brand of contacts on me instead of the brand I knew fitted me well, and so for the last year I've not really felt comfortable in my lenses.

So I really would like to have a good eye doctor who will listen to me if I say "hm. these aren't so comfortable." Any suggestions?

There's a really great place in Porter that a friend of a friend works at, but I've quite forgotten the name. It's on one of the upper floors of one of the buildings there (NOT Porter exchange, next to the one with the Healthworks/CVS)

Your experience may vary - I was not happy with their contact lens service, but glasses were excellent.

Dr. Scott Sylvia at General Optical on Mass. Ave north of Porter is good, and has been recommended by others here. They seem to have good contact lens support too. They are on a corner near the Afghan restaurant.

P.S., isn't there an optician on the 1st floor of the big Harvard Vanguard center in Davis? I bet they take your insurance! The entrance is on Holland St.

Yes! They do have an optician in the Harvard Vanguard center, although I'm not sure if they're any good (I walked by once and it was completely empty).

I've come to appreciate input from the users of this community so thought I'd ask for some suggestions, first.
