Foodie Crawl Postponed to 9/25 Due to Forecasted Rain

Foodies,

Unfortunately, it appears that the forecast for tomorrow is 80-90% chance of rain. 
As a result, the East Broadway Foodie Crawl is rescheduled to the rain date of September 25th, otherwise known as next Tuesday.

This gives you an extra week to buy tickets or volunteer (ticket & t-shirt included)!

For those of you who do not know what the Foodie Crawl is, here is a summary:

Food fiend or East Somerville friend? On Tuesday September 18th, come take a cultural crawl with us through the East Somerville restaurant corridor and discover Somerville’s best kept culinary secrets. The authentic foods will take you straight to the sights and smells of Ethiopia, the tastes of El Salvador and the colors of Haiti. Last year, over one thousand people came and ate their way through this showcase of ethnic cuisine. This September over a dozen restaurants, representing five continents, will once again throw open their doors to a horde of foodies. Join us on this cavalcade of taste and culture!

Unfortunately, you have rescheduled a food event for the evening that begins Yom Kippur, a Jewish fast day ;-(

We're also disappointed about the date change for this very reason. The date was set months ago, and we were very much hoping to not have to use it -- especially since in 5 years of events we've only used one raindate! Unfortunately, the restaurant owners (at least for this year) we're only open to doing such a comprehensive event on a Tuesday night as it is a slower night. Thanks so much Ron for being in communication with us and we'll work hard next year to avoid anything like this!

Thank you for your reply. I hope this kind of conflict can be avoided in future years.

I wish you could have chosen Monday, September 24, instead; I think Mondays are even slower nights than Tuesdays.

(By the way, I suggest you edit this post to provide a more descriptive Subject line than just the single word 'Foodie'. Maybe 'East Somerville Foodie Crawl postponed to September 25th' ?)

Granted, I don't know at all about the particular restaurants mentioned in this post, but in my experience, it's not uncommon for restaurants to be closed on Mondays. I've found that out to my chagrin sometimes!

I'm sorry, but this really doesn't seem like a great explanation to me. The date of major holidays such as Yom Kippur is pretty easy to find, regardless of how far in advance you plan your event. Knowing that, you could have also scheduled the rain date for the following Tuesday, October 2, which would have been less of a conflict.

I hope you really will seriously consider this when scheduling future events.

Will you provide ticket refunds for those with conflicts due to Yom Kippur?

I was looking forward to attending the foodie crawl, but won't be being a foodie on that evening, and will in fact be trying hard not to think about food for 24 hours...
