I just moved to the area and have a rather silly question about the mail! If I had a package delivered that they didn't leave at my house, what post office will it sit at waiting for me to pick it up?
The worker at the Davis Square post office told me that packages are almost always held at the Union Square branch. A few weeks ago I missed a package delivery, and the note left by the mailman said to pick it up at the Davis Sq. branch. I went in to pick it up and the worker there cried, "how many times do I have to tell them not to send people here!" He was funny about it though, and called up the Union Sq. office and checked for my package, and sent me on my way.
So...you should call to be sure, probably at a non-prime time (i.e.: not pre-work, lunchtime, etc.)
If your zip code is 02143, then your package is at the Union Square Post Office. It wouldn't be anywhere else.
Unfortunately due to an annoying and frustrating automatic voice program in use now, calling the post office these days and talking to a human is much more time consuming than actually going to the post office.
I used to almost always have to pick up in Union Square, even when I lived in Davis Square and the slip said to pick up at Davis Sq PO. Wherever you think it is, you might want to call them to confirm that it's there first.
