Who would lock together 12 bikes with flat tires, in front of Diesel Cafe?

About 20 minutes ago, I walked by Diesel Cafe and saw 12 bicycles all locked together with a single cable, all with flat tires. They are not in the city's bike corral, but rather just beyond the corral as you walk from Diesel towards Rosebud.

Any idea why these bikes are here? I don't think the ABC Family production crew are responsible for this, as they've all packed up and left for the evening.

ETA 11/29/12 11:40 am: According to the counter staff at Diesel this morning, this was a prop for the TV show, and it was taken away within the last hour.

Are they trying to make some kind of political point by taking up a car parking space? Or are they in the "not a space" between the bike corral and what is, I think, a fire hydrant, that's not quite long enough for a car slot but isn't signed "No Parking" either?

You sometimes see motorcycles parked there (including mine) since it's long enough for several of those parked tail-in to the curb.

I bet that it was the production crew. They probably didn't want to bother loading the bikes on the truck for the night. And figured no one would steal a bike with a flat tire.

Abandoned bikes removed from the corral, maybe? Perhaps they're planning to take the corral down for the winter soon? It seems like about time for that - I don't think they're planning to leave it up all winter. Other than that, though, I've got nothing.

Last year they took down the corral around the end of December. I doubt this many abandoned bikes were in the corral -- at least, I hope not! Other than the flat tires, they look intact and not especially abandoned.

(there's another abandoned bike a half block away, a frame locked to one of the city's 'powderhouse' racks, with both front and rear wheels missing. If it's still there tomorrow, I'm going to call it into 311)

Ron, I suspect this, and some similarly inexplicable comments you've seen recently, are spam.
I've seen a lot of blog-comment spam recently on blogs I read, including by bots that copy bits of legitimate comments, so this might be something like that.

Yeah, I think so too. I believe the spam aspect is connected to the broken image, but I have no desire to follow it enough to check. Next comment from them of this sort and I think a removal is in order.
