So I appear to have left the "get new glasses before the reimbursement account year runs out" a bit too late, since Costco Optical in Everett has no appointments till next week. Any recommendations for getting my eyes looked at? I could still get the new glasses at Costco, after all.

Thanks!

Edit: I'm going to be seen at the ForEyes in Newton, very close to where I work, tomorrow at 3:30.

maybe Parrelli Optical in Porter Square? I used to see Dr. Bonny Weingarten there, but she moved her practice to Gloucester, so now I see Dr. Margot Seligman instead.

But I have no idea if they have appointments for tomorrow, and it sounds like that is the only day you can do it and get reimbursed?

Cambridge Eye in Harvard Sq., Dr. Hauser, if possible. Good hunting!

Maybe try Eye Q with Dr. Luria - they have Harvard Sq. and I think another location.

YMMV, but my flexible spending health care account actually lets me spend 2012's money until March 15, 2013. Of course, I generally use it up by October, so it's a moot point, but it may be worth looking up on your plan.

Regardless of where you go to get your eyes looked at, I highly recommend you skip the shockingly overpriced glasses at brick and mortar opticians and instead order from http://www.zennioptical.com/ (http://www.zennioptical.com/). I now have 4 pairs of cute prescription glasses that cost me an average of $20 per pair. I know someone in this comm who has 14 different pairs, mostly from there, I believe. Be sure to have your pupil distance measured when you have your eye exam. You'll need that.

uhm. yeah, that would be me. well, maybe there is someone else. but yeah. I do. I also get them from Firmoo, and Coastal Contacts, both of which offer, from time to time, free (with shipping) glasses through facebook if one follows them there. Coastal's stuff is *really* high quality, brand name things, and I spend $13 on shipping when they offer that deal.

No suggestions for eye exams, but if you prefer brick and mortar to online eyeglass shopping, I *highly* recommend Medford Eyeglass shop. Especially if you have a strong prescription. The prices rival Costco, and the quality and selection are way better.

Dr Roy Baker in Arlington is wonderful, extremely nice, and knows what he is doing. His office feels like it is stuck in the 60's and will likely be that way until he retires (and all of their billing is via paper), but his level of service and attention to detail is also the sort that you don't find as easily these days. I'd highly recommend him, although it may take a week or two to get an appointment.
