The Nave Gallery is opening an 'Annex' this month on the first floor of 53 Chester Street, the house next to Redbones. They're looking for people to help paint the walls. If you're interested, show up this afternoon (Saturday 1/5) at 1 pm.

The Nave Annex's first exhibit, "PICNIC", is soliciting artwork that will "capture the endless and invincible season of summer in a mason jar." They will accept submissions on Friday and Saturday, January 11-12. Full details behind the cut:

A Call to Preserve Summer
The Nave Gallery Annex asks local artists to capture the endless and invincible season of summer in a mason jar. Whether it be reflections on its color and light, or that never-ending bloom, entries should fit neatly in a "1-Quart Ball Wide Mouth Jar with Lid." A select number of jars will be on display at the gallery's first exhibit, "PICNIC" curated by Susan Berstler and Jenn Harrington. All entries will be auctioned off to support this experimental space.

The rules are simple:
Stay inside the jar.
And, yes, anything is possible as far as contents, including mini paintings, drawings, prints, photos, plastic, actual nature objects, etc. etc.

Jars will be accepted for drop-off on the following dates at The Nave Annex in Davis Square
Friday, January 11, 2013 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 10 a.m.-noon

The Nave Annex is located in Davis Square at 53 Chester Street, Somerville, MA 02144.
