I finally have to admit to myself that cheaters no longer work and I need proper reading glasses. What recommendations do you all have for a local eyeglass store?

As a first time eyeglass wearer I'm mostly interested in a shop that will take the time to help me select the right kind of lenses for my usage and get the prescription fine tuned. I'm less concerned about a wide selection of frame styles. I'm no fashion plate.

Has anyone tried the place on Elm across from Posto?

I am just going through this process myself for the first time ever. I was lucky and my Health Insurance cover 1 eye exam a year, however it doesn't cover the cost of glasses. I had my eye exam at a Pearl Vision center and I assume the doctor did a good job. I went to the one at Twin City Plaza off McGrath. However, their glasses were very expensive. I went a few places and figured out the right shape frames for my face, and then started the hunt for glasses. I have to tell you, Sears Optical in the Burlington Mall was half the price of other places and they are currently having a 50% off sale, which I think ends soon...maybe even April 1. Pearl Vision also took me as a walk in on a Saturday last week. I did a lot of reading online and places that make your glasses in an hour are expensive, Sears takes about a week to get them to you but to save over 250$ is worth it to me. I've also heard really good things about Costco for glasses, they also have to send them off site but you don't need to have a membership (I believe). Good luck!
