Legal, quasi-legal or not-legal-but-safe places to park around Fresh Pond?

Does anyone know of a place to park around Fresh Pond without a Cambridge permit? I want to take a friend from out of town there but don't want to also be showing them Pat's towing... ;-)

Depends how long you are parking there. I use the garage at Alewife at times, which is $5-8 I believe.
Also, you can park in front of the movie theatre if if it's not overnight. They don't seem to ask any questions.
