Does anyone know of a place to park around Fresh Pond without a Cambridge permit? I want to take a friend from out of town there but don't want to also be showing them Pat's towing... ;-)

Park in the Danehy Park lot (New Street side) and walk down to Fresh Pond from there.

If Cambridge Science Festival events go on tomorrow (Sat 4/20) and people are out and about, this is likely to be mobbed for Space & Rocket Day activities.

All CSF events planned for today (4/22) were cancelled. Probably too late to un-cancel them now. Even tomorrow's events are up in the air right now.

Yes, we made the decision before the situation had been resolved last night. As for tomorrow (Sunday), the Festival is back on. I know that [livejournal.com profile] pmrp has cancelled its program at the MIT Museum, but the Festival staff has been hard at work last night making sure their website (http://cambridgesciencefestival.org/Home.aspx) is as up to date as possible.

Thanks. The battle robot contest has been moved to Wednesday night 4/24. Obviously my comment above was supposed to say 4/20, but I didn't notice my error until you had replied (which prevents me from editing it).

While it has been many years since I have parked there, there is a parking adjacent to the Cambridge Water Dept building on Fresh Pond Parkway. There are two entrances, one on either end of the building. I'm assuming that this is public parking as it is adjacent to Kingsley Park. Check Google maps.

You can park at Whole Foods or TJs, or also you can park at Star Mkt on the Cambridge/Watertown line. There are also a few 2 hour free parking spots on Holworthy street (the street that is next to Sofra). Once I parked in the Fresh Pond visitor lot on a Sunday assuming it was ok to not have a permit, but I got a ticket.

Depends how long you are parking there. I use the garage at Alewife at times, which is $5-8 I believe.
Also, you can park in front of the movie theatre if if it's not overnight. They don't seem to ask any questions.

There is two hour parking on Huron ave, by the playground (glacken field).. Then you just cut through that field and down the hill to the path around the pond.

You probably know this already, but Cambridge resident parking on streets is not in effect on Sundays.
