Summer Street, just past the VFW

As you pass the fenced in area after the VFW on Summer Street, there is often an odor. It reminds me of the smell of hot black olives, or decaying rubber. Does anyone know what this smell is or how we could find out? It's been that way as long as I've been walking by there, and I've lived here for 7 years.

FWIW, that's a Red Line access shaft, so maybe it's a train smell of some sort?

I agree with the MBTA comment, it might be where the Red Line stops/slows down, or it might be venting air from the bus area or something else underground.

As far as I can see, all this account does anywhere on LJ is post that same three-letter reply. To me, that's spamming. Same as the accounts we banned earlier that were posting blank replies with embedded 1x1 pixel images.

I haven't noticed the smell by the VFW, but as someone who's not very fond of olives I have to say their scent is reminiscent of something plasticky-rubbery for me as well.
