I'm pretty sure there's _one_ motorcycle that zooms around the Ball Square area a couple times a day - but unpredictably, so it's hard to lay eyes on it. It's a quick rev, very zoom-y, and a much higher pitch than a broken car muffler.

I have no idea if it's leaving the nearby (and very good, I'm told) motorcycle shop, but it's usually heading toward it in the morning and away from it at night.

I don't think it's a massive problem - and certainly not epidemic - but it's getting old, especially when it wakes me up (and I'm usually up before 7). Does anyone recognize what I'm hearing?

I usually hear one in Union Square pretty early in the morning.

I absolutely know what you're talking about. We live very near the intersection you're describing and I always SMH when that person goes by. It's louder than any cycle I've ever heard. I'm not sure what can be done, but it's so loud I've wondered if the person enhanced the sound somehow on their bike.

Get the license plate next time, and file a complaint with the Registry of Motor Vehicles?

I hope you don't really believe that sad and sorry excuse for noise pollution.

Is the DMV where one files these? There's a guy on my street who likes to run his loud motorcycle for five minutes every night at 11 before screeching off. I asked politely if he could idle for less time before leaving, and he was all, I have to go to work, the bike has to warm up, FU.
If there's a book available, I'd like to throw it at him.

If it's right at 11 he's probably violating a noise ordinance.

I know the bike you mean! I used to live on Highland Road and I heard it almost every day. I *think* that bike lives on Highland Road as well, but I can't be 100% sure.

I'm not sure I've seen the exact bike, but I've seen at least a couple that ride around union square. The dudes riding them are going out of their way to look like tough guys, so I doubt they're going to be real receptive to noise complaints. Maybe someone hulksmash their bikes into a million pieces?

Do the police ever enforce motor vehicle noise laws around here?

When I spend summer evenings in Back Bay, there are always large groups of very noisy sport motorcycles circling around.

yeah, those guys tend to like to zip up and down newbury street. i'm guessing because it happens before 10pm the police can't do anything? they are so annoying though.
