Date: 2005-07-27 12:56 pm (UTC)yeah, seriously - especially if you’re going to post the same damn ad every single week. this is LJ, not TV. you could at least provide some explanation of why we should care about this event!

Date: 2005-07-27 01:37 pm (UTC)Anyhow, if you don't like/enjoy/care about dancehall and roots reggae and/or ragga, jungle & drum 'n' bass, then stop reading now, cause you won't care about this night.
However, if you do, then it's a good time for a group of people to get together and experience some new music as well as old favorites. What we're trying to do with the night is bring two distinct groups of people together, firstly the dancehall reggae crowd who might not have ever been exposed to the styles of music influenced and inspired by it, and trying to show them something new in the ragga jungle style, and for all the jungle/drum 'n' bass kids to come and hear the music they like, and at the same time get an education on the roots of the genre, and maybe hear some of the original tracks that have spawned hundreds of remixes.
It's something new, it's not straight techstep DNB like you get at elements (not that there's anything wrong with that) and it's not just straight dub and reggae like you get at any of the various nights held around the city. It's not your traditional club night, and it's certainly not for everybody.
We're not making any money off the night (we don't even get free drinks) but that's not the point. We're doing this for the love of the music and to push two very different yet similar cultures forward, and if that's not something that interests you, that's fine, just ignore this and all subsequent posts, but if it is, come on down, have a brew with us and enjoy some good music with some good people.
