There must be a bunch of places that no private individual owns, but the city (or state, or whoever) does, like bus stops. Does the city (or state, or whoever) not have to shovel those places? That seems obviously wrong to me.

The city now does a pretty good job of clearing snow on sidewalks next to the Day Street parking lot. Years ago, I used to have to bother the city after every snowstorm about doing this.

Actually, I have already had to call the city twice this season about the sidewalks along that lot. I guess it depends on when you're there. Also, no one seems to take care of curbcuts at most intersections. The city doesn't do it, and property owners make a slim path at best that's no good if the pedestrian has mobility issues (or a stroller.)
