I don't know if there will be a special election, or if the seat will just remain vacant for the remainder of 2014. Sciortino represents Somerville wards 4 and 7 and parts of Medford.
ETA: Somerville Journal says there will be no special election. We're just a few weeks away from the filing deadline for the November election.
