I worked with Harold Popp back in 2009 and was quite pleased with the results. http://www.myhouseinspector.com/content.aspx for a rather dated web page, http://www.yelp.com/biz/mt-vernon-inspection-associates-middleton for some more recent reviews. Despite the Middleton location on that page, he definitely does business in Somerville - or at least he did 4.5 years ago.

I have used Harold Popp a number of times in Camberville (as recently as last month) and also recommended him to many clients. It was kind of amusing a few weeks ago when I read his report from when we bought this condo (which I barely looked at at the time, having gone into labor that day) and it was pretty much a laundry list of the work we've had to do since moving in.

I'll fourth the Harold Popp recommendation - I've used him for three Somerville inspections and recommended him to friends, family and colleagues for more than 20 years. He is an incredibly knowledgeable gem. He was a contractor previously and provides terrific reports.
