Aug. 21st, 2005 12:46 pmOn Friday, someone posted that Dr. Leavy had left Porter Square Vet. I had an appointment there on Saturday, so I took it upon myself to find out where she went.
She's at the Cat Hospital in Arlington.

Date: 2005-08-23 05:26 pm (UTC)I've escaped kidney problems so far with my cats, but my diabetic cat also has terrible arthritis (slightly improved by Cosequin) and had radioactive Iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism a few years ago.
Cute icons... And thanks for the welcome. :)

Date: 2005-08-23 11:30 pm (UTC)Harri, the older Siamese, is on Cosequin and Mehithemezole (I have no idea how that's spelled; I'm lucky I can pronounce it). Patrick, the younger Siamese, is on k/d diet for his kidneys.
It is quite nice to be able to walk to a vet. When I lived in SF, my vets were all across the Park from me, and that was a pain.

Date: 2005-09-03 01:04 pm (UTC)Patrick has had about half his teeth extracted, all at Porter. They do do bloodwork in advance, and they let you choose how detailed you want it to be; because of this, we found out that he has some liver function problems, which had he not had bad teeth we might not have known.
I like that place.

Date: 2005-09-08 01:53 am (UTC)I am going to give Porter Sq. a call tomorrow. I am going to check on prices for Blood Glucose Curves (hopefully that will give me an idea of how they will compare to City Cats and to my Portland vet), and find out if they do x-rays before dental work. If they are cheaper, but don't do x-rays, I may go to them, but have dental work done at City Cats. The problem with not doing x-rays is that teeth that are bad on the inside but not visibly bad will be left in the mouth to cause problems later. I'd rather pay a bit more for x-rays than have to have more dental work done later.
Thanks so much for the info. Hopefully I can get Dr. Ryan.
