Maybe more over than technically in Davis Square, but probably of interest to at least some of the residents.

Apparently the northern lights may be visible in the Boston area tonight (courtesy of a really huge solar flare which may also mess with phones and gps and anything else satellite based).

This is a pretty rare occurrence.

Does anyone have suggestions for any good places to stargaze/watch for this in the area?

There is a website that tracks the "bursts" along with a map so that you can tell when you should be able to see them.. We probably need a KP number between 7 an 8... Currently it says:

The Space Environment Center's Neural Net Program estimates that . . .

in 13 minutes, the Geomagnetic Activity level (Kp number) will be 6 -- at STORM LEVEL!
in 26 minutes, the Geomagnetic Activity level (Kp number) will be 6 -- at STORM LEVEL!
