Insurance agent

I'm looking for an insurance agent.   Any recomendations?    I'm especially interested in recomendations from people who in addition to howeowner's/renter's/auto, have a business, rental property etc.

I've found that insurance agents (based on my sample size of 2) are helpful the first year, and then stop shopping my policies around for the best deal, stop being as responsive to emails, etc.   I don't know if their commission incentives are at odds with me getting the lowest premiums or if it is lack of effort.

I've found gallante insurance in porter to be very responsive to email even after 15 years and many policy changes.


They don't try to change your policy unless you request it.

My household uses Nancy Bender Insurance. We've used them for 15 years on homeowners (which includes our rental unit), car, and occasionally I've added a business liability policy when it was relevant, and canceled it when it wasn't.

A couple years ago, someone from their office called us up to tell us that she had been looking over our car policy and found a cheaper insurer for the same amount of coverage and if we wanted to change she could send us the paperwork. We hadn't asked her to save us any money, nor even asked them to look it over, they initiated all of it, and then asked if we wanted to do it. This has added up to a big win for us.

So we're pretty happy with Nancy Bender, but I do only have a sample size of 1 for insurance agents.

Somerville Alderman-At-Large Jack Connolly actually owns an insurance agency in Davis Square (Wedgwood-Crane & Connolly). I have no personal experience with them, but I know they insure some local businesses, such as diesel cafe, which we all know and love, and my landlord uses them for home and auto and highly recommended them to me when I moved in (although I already had insurance that I liked).
