The Broadway bridge over the Lowell Line railroad tracks, just east of Ball Square, will be CLOSED to all traffic (car, bike, and pedestrian) from 6 am this Friday, April 10, to 7pm Saturday, April 11. This closure is part of Green Line Extension construction.

For more information and detour routes, see this page. This is going to put a huge amount of traffic onto tiny side streets on both the Somerville and Medford sides.

Anyone know what the plan is for the #80 and #89 buses? The MassDOT pages don't mention these at all.

Huh, the T doesn't have any active service alerts on those lines. That makes me think they might just follow the detours, though that does miss the inbound Ball Square stop.

The only thing I can think is that the Brunch Mafia* must really be powerful!

*not a real mafia, and not intended towards any particular establishment but rather the overall crazy lines for mediocre food that happens every week.

As for the 80 and 89 buses, I just can't see them being able to navigate the detour routes. None of those streets handle bus traffic now, and I don't think a bus would be able to make some of the sharp right hand turns on those routes. Maybe the T is just late posting info on those bus lines.

From the city:
On Fri., April 10, and Sat., April 11, between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon, necessary bridge work will require the brief closure of Broadway between Boston Ave. and Wilson Ave. During this work, vehicles traveling east will be detoured right onto Willow Ave., left onto Morrison Ave., and left onto Cedar St. Vehicles traveling west will be detoured right onto Winchester St., left onto Harvard St. and left onto Boston Ave. Closures are expected to last no longer than 2 hours each day.

It's from an email and robocall that came from the City. You might not live in an area that received it. Here it is in full:
Hello, this is Jackie Rossetti from the City of Somerville with important information regarding construction-related road closures for the Ball Sq. area due to ongoing work on the Broadway Bridge.
Police details will be stationed in these areas to assist with traffic and detour information.
