Well I posted a while ago about repairing my poured concrete stairs but apparently they must be replaced.   The old poured concrete will need to be demolished before new ones are installed.  Any recommendations on a contractor to do the whole thing, someone to remove old stairs and/or someone to build new stairs out of compositie or install poured concrete or precast stairs?  Any pros and cons to each type other than price?

We used Diamond Edge Construction (http://www.diamondec.com/home.htm) to rebuild our porch with composite a couple of years ago. It wasn't concrete originally, but I'm sure they could give you a good idea of what's involved and what your best options are. They did a fantastic job with our porch.

having done a bunch of work on my home over the last 2 years here is some advice- decide first what exactly you want to do for new stairs. You list 3 possible choices in your post and knowing exactly what you want and the outcome of a particular project will help in deciding who you go with

On that note I would consider switching to some wood like (not actual wood) products instead of concrete. Just about every concrete step I've been involved in in this region gets damaged over time from salt.

Bautista Masonry did a great job on our steps last year. While our were brick (and they rebuilt and replaced with bluestone treads), they do concrete as well. Highly recommended. http://www.bautistamasonry.com/ Good luck!

We just finally tore out our slowly deteriorating poured concrete front stairs (actually more like rapidly at the end) and replaced them with a composite, including an under stair cupboard. I LOVE THEM. They don't look plastic-y at all, feel nice under our feet, and supposedly will require little to no maintenance. They might be a little slippery when wet, but certainly no worse than the concrete.

Our contractor (Ames and Young) did a great job, but I'm not sure I'd recommend them since we're still waiting for them to come finish up and get the final inspection. The work is great but they're slow.

What brand of composite did you use?
