Boston Eater reports that a Japanese restaurant called Sugidama has been proposed and given conditional approval by the licensing commission. It'd be located at 260 Elm St. (the pedestrian arcade containing Starbucks, Boston Tattoo Co., Davis Square Family Practice, etc.)

If this is the posted plan you refer to (following a link from the Eater.com article), it's definitely on the east side where Bedford was.

Once this opens, could we possibly hope that the landlord will redesign the plaza to provide a common outdoor seating area? There will be four restaurants: Chipotle, Starbucks, Orange Leaf, and now this new one. Those four fenced-off platforms (one in front of Starbucks, the other three at the Herbert Street end) are ugly, useless, and ridiculous.

In other Somerville restaurant news from Eater Boston, A4 Pizza has pulled the plug and doesn't plan to reopen even if the electrical issues in the building ever get fixed. (Don't know about Dosa N Curry, affected by the same issue.)

And in other news for restaurants in Davis Square, I noticed that Yumi Hot Pot & Sushi on Elm Street is open. Has anybody tried it?

That's sad, a restaurant closing because Eversource can't do their job competently.

In the A4 case, was it Eversource or the landlord?

FWIW, Eversource apparently messed up Magoun Square last Wednesday. I was at NESFA during the day and the other side of the street was without power for hours. Places had signs saying they hoped to open at 11 after the power was restored, but it was much later than that (at least noon IIRC) before places were able to reopen.

I'm confused by the diagram and the different reports. Does this mean that the Planned Parenthood office is closing? I sure hope not.

Eater.com linked to an outdated city planning staff report. Here is the updated staff report and here's the ZBA's approval, which occurred on August 19.

I was in DSFP last week and they mentioned the new place is going in next to them with the cobbler on the other side.
