Fabric?

Where can I buy fabric in the Boston, Cambridge, Somerville area? I know there are places in Chinatown, but is there any other option?

sew-low fabrics, cambridge street, between fifth and sixth streets.

and, they have new signage, so you can actually notice where it is now.

and there was a fabric store at twin city plaza, which is sort of behind where sew-low is located. no clue if it's still there. there's a shaw's and mcd's also there.

Sew-fisticated Fabrics is still at Twin City Plaza. Stuff is pretty cheap, but I don't do a lot of sewing so can't offer an actually useful review beyond that.

Avoid Sewfisticated if you can. The fabrics are cheap and so is the service.

i haven't been there in AGES. when i was going there, it seemed filled w/ indian women buying shiny fabrics. same clientele now? maybe that range of fabric is decent? not that i know. :)

I like that place a lot. Lots of remnants for really good prices. I went there for the fabric for my wedding dress, and was very happy with the price and the fabric. I will admit that the owner/manager is kind of annoying, though.

I say it's a mixed clientele. The range of fabric is decent. The quality of the fabric can be iffy so you have to choice carefully. Personally I refuse to shop there now based on how poorly I've been treated in the past. I'd rather give my hard earned money to nice buisnesses. :)
