More Street Sweeping!
Nov. 20th, 2015 04:34 pmIf you are one of those second-and-fourth Thursday people (whose street doesn’t get swept on Thanksgiving), good news! The city is going to sweep your street on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Yay! But don’t forget to move your car!

Date: 2015-11-20 10:33 pm (UTC)Is it even legal to ticket cars for this when it isn't posted? This is going to be a fiasco. Very little of the street is going to be swept and a lot of cars are going to be ticketed.

Thursday Street sweeping
Date: 2015-11-23 03:58 pm (UTC)Keep Calm & Park On
Date: 2015-11-23 07:41 pm (UTC)Here's some clarification on the extra street sweeping day:
This came about a request from Ward 6 residents who live on streets that normally get swept the fourth Thursday of the month. Since they miss the final November sweep each year because of Thanksgiving and there is sometimes snow in December, they would have debris that stayed on their streets all winter.
First, we put out word on the City website and sent it to local media outlets and then also posted it on social media. Parking Control Officers have and will continue to flyer cars parked on the affected streets and later this week we'll be sending out an alert call and putting up signs or saw horses on the affected streets. Whenever something like this comes up, you can always contact the City directly by calling 311, and we'll get you the most up-to-date and correct information.
Second, we will not be ticketing that day. Normally, that's not something we'd want to put out publicly. Unfortunately, without the threat of a ticket hanging over them, some people will not move their cars and parts of the street won't be swept. Hopefully, even with this information out there now, everyone will agree to cooperate to benefit their neighborhood.
